Carpuride W702 Pro Review: The Best Motorcycle GPS Screen After 115,000 km

We have been riding full-time since 2021. During that time, I completely destroyed the battery of my iPhone 13 Pro Max by mounting it on the handlebar and using it as a GPS, day after day, exposed to direct sun, heat, rain and constant vibrations. After three-plus years on the road, its maximum charge capacity had dropped to just 70%. In Thailand, with temperatures regularly pushing past 40°C, the phone would overheat within minutes of starting navigation, screen dimming, apps freezing, and leaving us without GPS on the road.

Why 7 inches and not 5?

Simple: gloves. When you are riding with thick motorcycle gloves, a 5-inch screen becomes genuinely difficult to use at a glance. The 7-inch W702 Pro lets you tap forward on Spotify, zoom out on Google Maps, or check the TPMS readout with a quick look and a casual gloved tap. The 7-inch IPS panel at 1000 nits is also readable in direct Thai sun, something our phone screen never managed without overheating.

Why the Pro version and not the base W702?

The base W702 is solid but it does not offer the TPMS option. Once you have experienced real-time tyre pressure monitoring in 42°C temperatures, you simply cannot go back. All of these matter every single day on a long journey.

Why not the W702BS BMW version?

The W702BS is an incredible piece of engineering that integrates with BMW’s OEM Wonder Wheel controller. But it is designed specifically for BMW motorcycles with the original navigation bracket. When the ambient temperature is 42°C and you have been riding for a few hours on Thai asphalt that is probably 60°C, your tyre pressure is doing something your eyes cannot see. Heat significantly increases air pressure inside the tyre. Without a TPMS, you simply do not know. The Carpuride W702 Pro’s TPMS integration displays front and rear tyre pressure live on screen, right next to the navigation. An alert fires automatically when pressure drops below 1.5 bar (22 PSI), the danger threshold for a blowout. On a loaded adventure touring motorcycle doing long distances in extreme heat, tyre health is the difference between a great day and a catastrophe.

• Prevents blowouts: low pressure combined with extreme heat and high speed is a recipe for disaster. The TPMS gives you warning before it becomes critical.
• Monitors overpressure: heat also causes pressure to rise. Knowing your tyres are at 3.2 bar when they should be 2.8 bar lets you release some air at the next stop.
• Saves fuel: correctly inflated tyres use less fuel. Over long journeys this adds up to real money saved.
• Peace of mind: knowing at a glance that both tyres are healthy, especially important in remote areas where a blowout could be genuinely dangerous.
• Low maintenance: sensor battery lasts 1 to 2 years. The sensors attach to the valve stems and battery replacement is simple and inexpensive.

The Carpuride W702 Pro offers two installation paths: plug a USB cable directly into a USB port on your motorcycle (the quick option), or hardwire it directly to the battery using the supplied red and black cables (the permanent option). Falkor has no USB port, so we went with the battery connection.

The one thing the box does not mention: the supplied cables are bare wire ends, they come without terminal connectors (cosses) to attach to the battery. A quick trip to the nearest garage in Thailand sorted it: 10 THB, approximately €0.25 / $0.30, for two terminals. Or in our case, we simply repurposed the connectors from our old TomTom Rider 550.
